How to Get to Ribeauville and Riquewihr from Colmar

Using Colmar as a base, there are numerous enchanting small towns in Alsace. Here is how to get to Ribeauville and Riquewihr from Colmar

Two of the best are Ribeauville and Riquewihr and the good thing is that the same bus gets you to both.

What Bus?

Bus 106 goes to both Ribeauville and Riquewihr.

You can get the bus from in front of the Colmar train station. Exit the train station and take a right and look for the sign for Bus 106.

Our experience was much more pleasant than yesterday’s journey to Eguisheim. Our driver was much more friendly and helpful.

A round trip ticket, including being able to get off and on along the route was €6.60 each. There are six possible times if you plan to do a day trip.

We were pleasantly surprised as the route took us past the Statue of Liberty.

It’s a replica erected in 2004 to honor Colmar’s most famous citizen, Auguste Bertholdi.

Along the way we passed through numerous towns. If we had more time I might like to see Beblenheim or Zellenberg.

There are two bus stops in Ribeauville. Exit at Gare Routiere.

Things to Do in Ribeauville

Ribeauville is a small town of about 5,000 people that largely caters to tourists. As you walk into town, you are immediately on the main tourist road. You can’t go wrong just staying on this road the entire time. The Tourist Information Office is on your left. Off in the distance, as if arising between the buildings, you can’t help but notice one of the three castles that overlook Ribeauville. The entire Grand Rue is lined with tourist shops and restaurants set in colorful half-timbered buildings.

Continue up the road at least until you get to the Tower des Bouchers.

If you are staying long enough, you can even hike to the three castles. Inquire at the Tourist Information Office for directions.

How to get to Riquewihr from Ribeauville

If you are early to the bus stop take a stroll in Jardin de Ville across the street. From Ribeauville get back on bus 106 and 13 minutes later you will be in Riquewihr. Get off at the Poste stop.

Things to Do in Riquewihr

When you exit the bus, enter the old town through the arch in the Town Hall.

Stroll up Rue de Gaulle past shops and restaurants in colorful half-timbered houses. Yes this sounds familiar in Alsatian towns, but I found the colors in Riquewihr to be much more vibrant than other towns in Alsace.

Walk all the way to the far end of town to the Upper Gate.

Be sure to head outside to get a view of the old ramparts.
