First of all, in the picture, I am the one on the right. I was a regular working guy, like many of you. I envied the people who had the freedom to do what they wanted when they wanted. I envied the people who traveled the world. When I turned 45, I wondered "if others can do it, why can't I?" and set out to retire by the time I was 50. Fortune smiled upon me and I accomplished my goal. Now you can follow some of my journeys. My travel philosophy is similar to my life philosophy - spend less; travel more. The less money I spend on every day things, the more money I have to travel. When I travel, it's the same. I want to travel more, so I try to spend less on my trips. I try to fly as much as I can using frequent flyer miles. For hotels, I don't have to stay in a fancy place. I'm out sightseeing all day, so at the end of the day all I need is a simple room (as long as it is clean, I am happy). I travel like a local, not a rich tourist, so I get a better feel for the places I go.

My Misunderstanding at Marksburg Castle

The unique thing about Marksburg Castle is that it is the only castle on the Rhine in Germany that wasn’t destroyed during a war (the other castles have all been destroyed at one time or another and rebuilt).  So you are actually looking at what this castle really looked like 500 years ago.
