The Alsace France region is a wonderful mix of German and French cultures. It’s a place where you can get sausages and sauerkraut served with wine and a “Bon Appetit”.
Getting to the Alsace France Region
Strasbourg is a two hour train ride from the Roissy station at Paris’ CDG airport. From Strasbourg, you can easily get to the other towns in Alsace.
We chose to travel via the Ouigo train because it was much cheaper. We paid only €16. The train was clean and comfortable so I don’t know why anyone would pay more for a different train.
Strasbourg

Strasbough is the largest city in the Alsace region and your likely starting point.
Le Petite France is probably the most picturesque part of town. I would consider Place Kleber to be the hub.

Colmar

Travel 30 minutes by local train to use Colmar as your hub for visiting Alsace. It has the small town feel, but is still big enough to have everything you need.
Fairytale Villages in Alsace France
If you want small fairytale villages that you will find hard to believe exist, be sure to visit Eguisheim, Ribeauville, Riquewihr and Kayserberg.
We unfortunately ran out of time to visit Kayserberg, but did get to see the others.
Eguisheim

Eguisheim is a small walled town about 30 minutes from Colmar via bus 208.

Conclusion: Alsace, France
I loved the quaintness of Alsace and would gladly return. I would visit Kayserberg next time and spend more time in these other towns as well .
