I’m in the mood for a little rant. I knew I would be taking a large group to Panera Bread, so prior to the visit I signed up for the MyPanera Rewards program, figuring I could earn some valuable points for a future visit to Panera Bread.

Panera Unlimited Coffee Deal (now free until 9/7/2020)
The bill came to $293 (yes it was a large group). Later in the day, excited to learn about my haul, I opened the app and clicked on “Rewards”.
Drum roll please…
To my dismay, after spending $293, I was awarded with a $1 off of a beverage coupon.
To add insult to injury, I have to do four more visits before I get my next reward. So if I eat there four more times, do I get another $1 off coupon? Yippie!

According to the Panera website: Simply put, we want to reward you for what you already do – enjoying all your favorites at Panera Bread®. Just present your card every time you visit; we’ll swipe it and once we get an idea of what bakery-cafe items you prefer, we’ll do our best to reward you with more surprises based on what you love.
I guess you might get something. But maybe you won’t. How long does them to “get an idea of what bakery-cafe items you prefer”. We may never know.

No thanks. I ‘m deleting the Panera app from my phone.
It’s not worth it for me. If you are going anyway, it can’t hurt, but I’m not going out of my way to go to Panera because of their rewards program.

You’re wrong, IMO, Panera rewards are totally worth it. A $1 off reward is the WORST reward you’ll get. Sometimes it’s a free bowl of soup or sandwich. Or could be a free pastry. Plus there are extra rewards randomly sent to your mypanera account. If you frequent Panera often or only on occassion, you should definitely use a rewards card. It’s free, so nothing to lose.

I didn’t have such luck so it wasn’t worth it to me, nor did any reward I got entice me to go back. I am glad you had a better experience. Enjoy.
